Timbaki

Was during the Turkish occupation a place with many religious tensions. This village was an important centre of communication between the west of Crete and the villages of the Messara valley. In 1822 where 2000 Turkish established here to disturb the communication and  to guard the passage. During fights were thirty Turkish killed and the rebels did re-conquer the village of Klima. It was the first big fight at the Messara valley. Nowadays Timbaki is a small town with about 8000 inhabitants. Every Friday there is a local market. Every year at the 25th of Augustus there is a party of “Agios Titos” which is celebrated enthusiastic.
